About Nigel Follett
CyberPix is the on-line art gallery of UK based artist, Nigel Follett.
Nigel has been an award winning painter in traditional watercolour and oils for some years locally to his home. He turned to original digital art just two years ago and has gained attention on a wider stage with his sometimes beautiful and sometimes disturbing images. He describes himself as an 'eclectic' painter and whist a lot of his work has a strong environmental theme, he also enjoys portrait work (spontaneous and commissions) and Nature in the form of wildlife and landscapes.
Unusually, Nigel's digital paintings do not use filtered photographs, or over-painting and for the past two years his works are all free-hand, relying on technique rather than photo-manipulation or CGI.
Nigel's work is rapidly attracting an international reputation and his painting 'Ragnar's Epitaph' is a Lumen Prize 2014 world's top 100 digital artwork displayed in the International Lumen on-line gallery. The Lumen Prize is 'The world's pre-eminent digital art prize' (The Guardian Culture Blog).
For three months from November 2014 it is also on display in the lobby gallery of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) HQ in Canary Wharf, London, UK.
Another of his works was used recently by two major environmental charities in a global campaign against PepsiCo for their use of conflict palm oil.
As an artist, he has over 26,000 Facebook followers.
''...some of his artworks are absolutely beautiful. Actually, there's a whole wealth of stuff, some with an uncomfortably acute resonance with some of the Big Concerns, both political and environmental...'' Prof. Paul (Oz) Hardwick. Professor of English, Leeds Trinity University, England.
Nigel sells artworks which are commissioned and non-commissioned and has also done a number of projects free of charge for worthy causes.
